SharePoint Workspace 2010 doesn’t synchronize my document library

The common error message is: The query cannot be completed because the number of lookup columns it contains exceeds the lookup column threshold enforced by administrator.

From my searches on internet I found out that this is a common issue. It seems that there is a limitation for SharePoint Online saying that if there are more than 8 lookup columns in the document library, SharePoint Workspace won’t synchronize it.

The problem is that my document library has only 7 lookup columns.

Office 365 – SharePoint Online – Declare Record Field Value Has a Different Time Zone

I have a SharePoint Online site collection, which has the In Place Record Management site collection feature enabled.

I have created also a document library, where I upload invoices and declare them as records, in order to enforce a 5 years retention policy. The problem is that, the time value in the Declared Record field of the item has a different value then the one showed by the system’s clock. It seems that it is working on another time zone.

Yesterday I was creating a new Enterprise Wiki site in a SharePoint Online site collection. The interesting thing that I found out, was the fact that I was not able to configure the default “Wiki Categories” managed metadata column.

And an interesting error message was there:

The required feature is not enabled for this column type.

It all started with my wish to use SharePoint Online included in my Office 365 Subscription to manage and organize my self-employed activity. So having in mind the “Eating your own dog food” principle I designed a simple SharePoint Intranet Solution which included:

SharePoint Site Site Template Description
Home Site Team Site Contains some personal resources, useful links and the official calendar.
Finance Blank Site Contains a customer list, invoices and contracts which are related to the coresponding customer.
Templates Blank Site Contains document and presentation templates.
Documents Document Center Contains all my project archive documentation and a drop-off library for content routing.
Wiki Enterprise Wiki Contains my personal KB with articles and links which I consider to be very useful.
Search Enterprise Search Center A search center to help me find information.

When I wanted to implement a custom excel template for my Invoice content type in SharePoint online, I found out the hard way that challenges might appear if I used Microsoft Office 2010 64-bit. Rephrased: it did’t work at all. Then I discovered another interesting thing: it was not possible to switch to Datasheet View in my document library.

Basically the error message was:
– A datasheet component compatibile with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed.
– You Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
– A component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support.
