SharePoint 2013: Where is the Sign in as Different User option?

Written by Denis Stadler on . Posted in Development

I have noticed an interesting thing in SharePoint 2013: there is by default no Sign in as Different User option into the menu.

In order to get it back you need to open the Welcome.ascx file, which is located at the following path: Program Files – Common Files – Microsoft shared – Web Server Extensions – 15 – TEMPLATE – CONTROLTEMPLATES.
There you need to manually add the command into the SharePoint menu:

<SharePoint:MenuItemTemplate runat="server" ID="ID_LoginAsDifferentUser"
Text="<%$Resources:wss,personalactions_loginasdifferentuser%>"
Description="<%$Resources:wss,personalactions_loginasdifferentuserdescription%>"
MenuGroupId="100"
Sequence="100"
UseShortId="true" />

welcome.ascx
After saving the file and refreshing your browser you should see the missing menu entry appearing.
